Validating a network of near infrared spectroscopy instruments for mixed feed analysis

A set of NIRS calibrations for the analysis of feed samples was built on four different databases. Each database consisted of a series of feed samples analyzed on a different NIRS instrument. Since two of the instruments were no longer available, a critical decision had to be made.

• standardize and loose the spectra of two instruments
• don't standardize so all data could be used

It was decided not to standardize to keep as much variation as possible (feed type and annual variation in used raw materials) in the database.
