Innovation is key

Since the early days, INVE Aquaculture has been recognized as a market driven innovator of the aquaculture industry: at first for marine hatcheries and during the past few years also for farms, with performing probiotic health products. With market driven we mean that our innovations will always be based on a market need. In order to realise this, we can fall back on our own staff, but also our customers and external parties: 

• A team of dedicated researchers specialized in different areas: eg, Artemia, microbiology, nutrition, feed processing technologies,
   
• Collaborations with international institutes that are world-famous in specific scientific areas: eg, the Aquaculture Consortium of the University of Ghent, Institute of Biotechnology, …
   
• Working closely together with the hatcheries and farms, in order to better understand their specific problems encountered during the production cycle and how solutions can be effectively and cost-efficiently adapted to the various production technologies.

All of our innovations are based on 30+ years of experience and market knowledge. This is achieved through our technical staff who are constantly in the field and through our Product Managers for shrimp nutrition, fish nutrition and health.

When a market need arises, our specialized research staff will start working on solutions for this problem. For example: when it became apparent that a new hatching method for Artemia was needed, because the old method was too complicated, involved too many hazardous chemicals and often had too much loss of nauplii, our team developed the SEP-Art technology which yields pure nauplii in an easy, environmentally friendly way. 

After the actual conception, all of our developments are first tested in our own testing centers. These are nearly identical replicas of actual fish and shrimp hatcheries, where we can fully evaluate the functioning of the innovation under market conditions and adjust where necessary. These test centers are located in Italy for marine fish (MRS: website) and Thailand for shellfish (SCRD). When the final product has been approved, we will conduct test runs with customers, and again adjust the product if necessary. Finally, the product will become available to the rest of the industry, but only after making sure it will meet the requirements for each individual market.

Our continuous striving for innovation places us exactly where our customers want us to be: right at their side, with a solution that perfectly fits their needs for producing quality animals in a cost-effective and environmental-friendly way. In other words, to make aquaculture even more sustainable as a key food supplier for the future!
