ARTEMIA CULTURE & ENRICHMENT

The Artemia production unit of a fish hatchery should provide sufficient quantities of nutritionally adapted nauplii. Availability of high numbers of well enriched Artemia nauplii at the right time is definitively one key success factor in larviculture. When 20 years ago was ackwnoledged that Artemia nauplii are by nature deficient in essential components required by marine fish larvae, and that this could be solved by enrichment with Selco products, a remarkable step towards industrialization of fish larviculture was taken. Continuous R&D efforts further led to more understanding of the specific nutritional requirement of the different fish species resulting in specialized species specific Selco enrichment products.
